This is a link to the Government of India’s website where you can apply for an electronic tourist visa. You must apply at least four days before your scheduled arrival (to one of 16 designated airports). Just upload a photo of your passport and a picture of yourself, fill out the application, pay the $60 application fee and wait for your approval e-mail. Be sure to print out the visa when it is sent to you.
This is the main website for buying Indian Railway tickets, but to register you must have an Indian phone number. If you don’t, it is possible to explain via e-mail that you are a tourist wishing to purchase tickets and don’t have a phone number.
